When you think of Nelson, do you think of Rugby?

You probably think more about beaches and art and wine and seafood and craft beer and fun in the sun and... but Nelson holds a special place in New Zealand's Rugby history.

* hosted the first ever game under recognised Rugby rules in May 1870
* is the birthplace of the father of New Zealand Rugby, Charles Monro
* is home to New Zealand's first rugby club, the Nelson Rugby Football Club

Now Nelson is doing its stretches and getting its boots on to welcome the world for Rugby World Cup 2011. The region is host to three teams, two matches, and two Fanzones, but it's the party that locals and visitors will be looking forward to.
